Popping the Question

Here’s a question: I wonder how many people popped THE question over the holidays, and how many more will ask it on New Year’s Eve. It used to be that men (or women) only had a ring with them when they proposed. Nowadays, many are enjoying the moral support and backup offered by a special furry friend. Sending a Vermont Teddy Bear has become a popular way to pop the question. And several proposals have even taken place right here at our factory, with hopeful guys getting down on one knee in front of their unsuspecting girlfriends right on the tour route! One year, we even had a couple get married here on Valentine’s Day.
Over the years, we’ve loved hearing the stories couples have shared with us about their Vermont Teddy Bear-assisted engagements, like one romantic guy who wrote and told us: “I purchased a Teacher Bear with the intention of using it to propose to my girlfriend. (She is a teacher!) I took the notebook that came with the Bear and glued all of the pages together except the first ten or so. I punched a hole in the glued pages for the ring to lie in. I gave her the wrapped up Bear while the “ball” was dropping on New Year’s Eve. She accepted!”
Another story comes from our Custom-Made Bear archives. The decked out Bear you see below was one creative guy’s way of asking his girlfriend, a university marching band member, that life-changing question, “Will you marry me?” Word has it she took one look at the Bear and said, “YES!”
