Bake Sale Shares the Honey
By Nate | October 8, 2007
(Post title I wanted to go with but changed my mind at the last minute: “Bake Sale Raises Dough.”)
As a follow-up to last Thursday’s bake sale fundraiser for United Way of Chittenden County, here’s an update from Jessica Proctor, taken from an email she sent to the Bear Crew. “The bake sale was a HUGE success raising $391.96. Adding our 50/50 earnings of $63 we are donating a total of $454.96 to the United Way.”
Jess writes that the winners of the informal judging contest included Cathy Carlisle, Thea Gaudette, and Larry Rushford for, respectively, their Chocolate Chunk Squares, Sour Cream and Apple Coffee Cake, and Orange Cookies with Frosting. One of our visitors was so taken with Larry’s cookies that she asked for the recipe, and she’s going to use it in an upcoming newsletter.
What this means is that, with a single bake sale, we:
- Raised money for an important charity
- Welcomed a large number of visitors
- Helped at least one new friend connect with others and share the honey (literally)
Congratulations to everyone who participated. Next up: Another bake sale. Tomorrow!

Thanks Meg. I thought it was a bit of a “groaner”. Maybe I’ll just run the next one by you to be sure.

The chipotle truffles were marvelous.

Brad, were the chipotle truffles at last week’s sale or this week’s?

The truffles had Cayenne in them. I have the cook book here at my desk if anyone wants the recipe!

Oh duhh, Cayenne. My bad.
