United Weigh: Karl Loses for a Good Cause

By Nate | October 3, 2007

Karl Kemerait’s first weigh-in for United Way of Chittenden County fundraiser238.4 lbs.

That’s how much Karl Kemerait weighed as his official weigh-in yesterday. Where he wants to be, however, is 163.4 lbs. And he’s turning it into a fund-raiser for United Way of Chittenden County (UWCC).

Each of the next ten months, Karl will return to Courtney Griesser for an official weigh-in. For every pound he’s lost, a whole bunch of Bear Crew will donate a pledged amount to UWCC. For example, I’ve pledged $0.50/pound, and I’m kicking in an additional $10 in July if Karl’s met that 163.4 lb goal.

What if Karl doesn’t lose any weight? UWCC still wins, as Karl will personally contribute $100 that month. (Just don’t lose too much weight too quickly, Karl! We don’t want to have to send you any “Get Well Soon” gifts.)

So here’s wishing Karl the best of luck and a huge “thank you” for reminding us that teaching by showing is Being Bear.
