Smoke-Free Campus, One Month and Counting
By Nate | August 1, 2007
It’s the one-month anniversary of our new smoke-free campus. We went officially smoking-free on July 1, applied to both Bear Crew and customers. The rule is intended to promote wellness by encouraging smoking cessation, so…how’s it workin’ out?
I know of at least one person who has to go on occasional drives off campus in order to smoke. Are all smokers doing that? Holding out till the end of the day? Quitting fer good?
Another issue would be morale in departments that have a significant number of smokers. Where I work in Marketing, smokers seem to be in the minority, but are there departments with a significant percentage of smokers? How’s morale over there?
Yet another issue would be the effect of the ban on visitors who smoke. This is the time of year the Factory is flooded with visitors on vacation. Are we getting a significant number of complaints from frustrated smokers?

This is a fantastic opportunity to seek closer parking!! Doesn’t matter what time of the day you arrive, during a break while others have driven off for a butt you can fish for a closer space. Wellness at it’s finest. Can’t say as we are doing much good for the enviroment though
